Desk in the Game Room 2

Desk in the Game Room 2

A cherry Secretary desk from the 18th century. Living space during this time (1740 - 1800) was often at a premium and furniture was often designed to serve several purposes and/or be folded up to take up less space when not in use. This desk is designed to use space efficiently and also has five secret drawers. Sitting on the desk are an ink well and quill holder, a powder shaker used to blot ink, a warmer to melt sealing wax, a hour glass, and eye glasses. A Queen Anne style side chair sits in front of the desk. This room is set up to represent a room between 1740 and 1800 in tidewater Virginia.
