On September 8, 2014, I (Andrew) had the opportunity to tour the Capitol Theatre in Wheeling, WV. Thank you Frank O'Brien and Steve Novotney for making it happen. The Theatre has been going through some much needed renovations lately. The facade was recently redone, new (comfortable!) seats were added, and during this tour they were installing a new state of the art LED lighting system.
The Capitol first opened on Thanksgiving Day in 1928. For many years it was the home of Jamboree USA and is currently home to the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra. Many legends, and potential legends, have stepped foot on this stage. The capitol is a diversified live entertainment venue that includes Broadway shows, music concerts, movie nights, and comedy acts. A very limited list of performers include Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers, Ray Charles, Lynyrd Skynrd, Bob Dylan, Jerry Seinfeld, and The Avett Brothers.
I hope you enjoy the tour. Please feel free to leave comments!
